Dr. Ian Burtenshaw, DPM, FACFAS, FABPM is a Dual Board Certified podiatric surgeon, specializing in treatment of the foot and ankle, in particular, total ankle reconstruction and ankle arthritis.
He chose a career in medicine for the opportunity to help others and have fulfilling and meaningful work. Dr. Burtenshaw’s passion for fixing, restoring, and improving how things work became more evident as he advanced his interest in medicine. Dr. Burtenshaw attended one of the most premier reconstructive foot and ankle surgery training programs in the nation where his love of science and advancement grew. He treats all foot, ankle, and lower leg deformities, including minor or significant trauma in the adult or pediatric population. After practicing and teaching for over a decade in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Dr. Burtenshaw and his family are excited to join the community here in Alaska.
Dr. Burtenshaw believes that knowledge is empowering. He strives to understand “why” a problem has occurred, then help both the individual and family understand why and how these things should be addressed, either conservatively or surgically. He takes very serious the trust that patients place in his hands when giving recommendations and treats each individual as he would his own family.
In his free time, Dr. Burtenshaw is a family man and outdoor enthusiast who loves to camp, hike, fish, hunt, and participate in sports including football, basketball, and baseball with his wife and children.

Joseph Knight, D.P.M was born in Texas but grew up in a small country town in Central Pennsylvania. He received his bachelor’s degree from Brigham Young University – Idaho, and graduated from Kent State University College of Podiatric Medicine.
Dr. Knight completed his 3 year foot and ankle surgical residency at the Saint Joseph Regional Health System in Mishawaka, Indiana. Here he was able to learn from both orthopedic and podiatric surgeons multiple techniques to treat all maladies of the foot and ankle via surgery.
He is married and has four rambunctious boys. Dr. Knight enjoys sports, especially hockey and football. He also loves the outdoors and enjoys hiking, fishing, hunting, rock climbing, and international travel.
